The interesting culture of many hill tribe groups and the breathtaking mountain scenery of the north are all on this adventure. The journey from Son La, Dien Bien to Sapa is quite hard, especially in the wet season. But it is a great chance to explore the remote area and many colorful markets. A combination of some visits to a wide variety of ethnic minority groups generally retaining their lifestyle, traditional costume with high mountains, deep ravines and terraced fields of Vietnam will excite your spirit of adventure. As the northern mountain roads are very rough especially in the wet season however travelling on 4 WD car is the best way allowing visitors to explore in depth.
Itinerary in details
Day 1: Hanoi-Maichau (130km)

7h30 am: Depart from your Hanoi hotel to Mai Chau. Starting a nice day by driving a safe route with spectacular views around every bend. Upon arrival at Lac village in Mai Chau, we will have lunch at local home
1h pm: We will take a short walk to visit the ethnic white Thai people and short trek through outstanding mountain scenery and picturesque, rice paddies, and talk with the lovely local people. In the evening, we enjoy with the traditional performance show and learn about the culture and customs and way of whiteThai people life overnight in homestay in Maichau (L/D)
Day 2: Mai Chau – Moc Chau – Son La (160km)

Leaving Mai Chau town toward Sonla province (160km) on the way to Sonla, we will pass Moc Chau plateau where plant grasses for the cow, tea plantation, meet and talk to the Blue H’mong, Muong hill tribe people. Upon arrival Sonla in the afternoon, check-in and then visit the Sonla Prison Museum which is built by French colonialists in 1908 to imprison the revolutionaries of the Vietnam party and nation overnight at the hotel in Sonla (B/L/D)
Day 3: Son La – Dien Bien (190km)

Leaving Son La to Dien Bien. On the way, we have chances to see the impressive, amazing mountain scenery at Pha Din Pass. And We will visit small villages and meet more friendly tribal people along our journey to Dien Bien Phu city. Stop for lunch in Tuan Giao town and then keep on driving to Dien Bien-the last military base of the French in Indochina. Here we will visit the Dien Bien history museum, the cemetery war, the A1 Hill, and De Castries command post and a trophy tank. Dinner and free time to explore the night-life in this remote mountain city. Overnight at hotel. In Dienbien (B,L,D)
Day 4: Dien Bien – Lai Chau – Sapa (285km)
This morning we drive from Dien Bien to Lai Chau and Sapa The road through the Lai Chau valley and then Tram Ton Pass is both breathtaking and dramatic, hugging rice terraced mountainsides and spectacular views. you'll have chances to see the most beautiful hill tribes in Northern Vietnam such as H’mong, Black Thai, Red Dao, and Day ethnic people. Upon arrival Sapa, check-in and have free time to explore the charm of Sapa in night. Overnight at the hotel in Sapa (B/L/D)
Day 5: Sapa
Am: you will have free time to walk around the Sapa town and see the Sapa market
Pm: go short trek to Catcat and Sin Chai villages of Black H’Mong tribe after lunch. Enjoy the waterfall in Cat Cat and beautiful scenery along the way. Back to hotel for dinner and enjoy the night in Sapa town. Overnight in Sapa
Day 6: Lao Chai – Ta Van – Giang Ta Chai Trek (B/L)
After breakfast at the hotel, Trek down to Lao Chai village to visit the Black H’mong and Day tribes then keep going along the bottom of the Sapa valley to get to Ta Van village, which supposed to be the most beautiful one in the area. Then, picnic lunch will be served on the way.
After that, keep on trekking to Giang Ta Chai village and learn about Zay the everyday life and customs. Go back to Sapa by motorbike or jeep. Get yourself fresh with a shower in the hotel’s day room before transfer down to Lao Cai Town. A short relax in Lao Cai Raiway Station for the night train at around 20:00PM back to Hanoi
Arrive to Hanoi at 05:30. You will be transferred to your hotel in Hanoi or continue with your trip. End of tour.
