Cat Ba National Park is located in Cat Hai district,Halong City. The national park is centred on Cat Ba Island a 28,500 ha island, which lies 20 km due east of Hai Phong city and immediately to the west of Halong Bay. The national park also incorporates some of the small islands and marine waters situated to the east of Cat Ba island.
Like Halong bay, the landscape of Cat Ba National Park is dominated by karst limestone islands rising abruptly from the sea. The topography is rugged and marked by steep outcrops and areas of bare rock. The national park ranges in elevation from sea level to 331 m at the summit of Mount Cao Vong.
As is typical in well developed karst landscapes, drainage patterns are complicated by subterranean passages, which probably account for most of the drainage in the national park. The centre of Cat Ba island is no more than 5 km from the coast, and surface drainage is poorly developed and seasonal.Cat Ba is one of the largest islands, with an area of 356 square kilometers, forested zones, coastal mangroves and freshwater swamps, beaches, caves, and waterfalls. In 1986, the northeast side of the island was designated a national park, including a protected marine zone. Cat Ba Island supports a population of over 20,000, most of whom live off fishing or farming in the south, in and around Cat Ba Town.

Itinerary in details:

Day1:  Hanoi – Halong (L/D)
8h00a.m: Pick up you at your hotel for Halong Bay. En route, you will have a short break of 15 minutes to rest before going to Halong Bay
12h30p.m: Arrive at Halong Bay Dock to board our elegant Halong Phoenix Cruiser. Enjoy a complimentary drink and then have lunch on board while cruising towards the exotic limestone islands with famous sea points such as Dog rock, fighting cock rock, incense burner… formed by the process of erosion between the sea water and limestone thousands of years ago. Many of them covered is lush dense jungle. Later, we visit Sung Sot Cave (Cave of Surprises) and then spend an hour Kayaking before a refreshing ocean swimming.
Fresh seasonal fruits are served on sundeck. Having dinner and overnight on the boat

Day2:  Halong or Catba
Option1: full day sea kayaking to discover Halong hidden beauty or keep relaxing on the boat (B/L/D)
8h00a.m: Boarding small boat with kayaks to Catba Ntional Park area, kayaking to Sang Cave (Bright Cave) where you can see the colorful coral reef with thousands of different shapes in the crystal water with the poetic seascapes, spending time to relax with the definite nature. Later, kayaking to Van Gia floating village where you have chance to see the real daily life of fishermen. Then BBQ lunch is served on beach or on the boat (depend on the weather)
3h30p.m: Board Halong Phoenix Cruiser for the second night
Option2: Cat Ba discovery (B/L)  
7h30a.m: Breakfast is served enroute to Van Gia – one of the largest fishing villages in Hlong Bay. There, you have chance to discover the daily life of fishermen before getting on another smaller boat to visit Lan Ha Bay and Monkey island and then getting to Catba island for lunch. In the afternoon, you may spend your time for relaxing, swimming, or sightseeing by yourself on beaches such as Cat Co 01, Cat Co 02, Cat Co 03. Free dinner in Catba island.

Day3: Catba – Halong – Hanoi (B/L)
7h30a.m: Having breakfast, and then bus pick up for transit boat to Halong Phoenix Cruiser, keeping on cruising along another part of Bay to the dock.
10h30a.m: Having lunch on the boat with a variety of local foods, enjoying the rest of the boat trip
12h15p.m: Arriving back at Halong dock for bus to pick up Hanoi
4h30p.m: Arriving Hanoi, the trip ends
